S&K Property Investments & Improvement is part of the S&K Group, based in Great Barr, Birmingham. Our teams install and refurbish building envelopes — from rainscreen cladding on new apartment blocks to large commercial façades and industrial re-cladding. The projects below are a selection of recent work, with photographs taken on our own sites — including work in progress, so you can see how each façade is put together as well as how it finishes.
Recent project · Residential
Rainscreen façade cladding to a multi-storey apartment building at Waterfront Apartments in Bristol, delivered by the S&K Group with S&K Property Investments and Improvement.
The elevations are insulated with mineral wool slabs anchored back to the structure, then fitted with a vertical aluminium subframe. Light-grey textured façade panels are face-fixed to the rails with colour-matched fixings, with crisp horizontal joint profiles and consistent open joints across each elevation. The work is carried out from scaffold, with panel set-out checked as the façade goes up.
A rainscreen façade is only as good as what sits behind it. These photographs follow the build-up on site, from insulation to finished panel.
The rainscreen principle. The panels form an outer screen that sheds most of the rain. Behind them, a ventilated cavity lets air move freely, carrying away moisture so the insulation and structure stay dry.
Recent project · Commercial
A large commercial cladding project for BioMar in Cork, Ireland, delivered by the S&K Group with S&K Property Investments and Improvement.
The building is wrapped in a crisp two-tone façade, with light-grey panels laid horizontally across the upper storeys above a base of vertical anthracite panels. The panels are set out in clean, continuous lines and detailed around long ribbon windows, louvre bands and brise soleil. Work was carried out at height from mobile platforms on a live construction site.
Recent project · Industrial
Refurbishment of the profiled metal cladding on a large industrial unit in Exeter, Devon, carried out by the S&K Group with S&K Property Investments and Improvement.
Years of weathering had left the elevations stained, with damaged sheets at low level and around the loading bays. Damaged sheets are stripped back to expose the insulation behind, so the build-up can be inspected and put right before the new sheets go on. The work is carried out from scissor lifts while the site stays in use.
